Happy Birthday Brenda!!!!

Yeah, i know that was a bit backwards but hey... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Here is Max who just pulled up for the firt time! It was about a 2-3 weeks ago and she's a pro at it now, even cruising a tiny bit! This time she was crying to stand so I put her up, but had to leave for a minute so I sat her back down. This was the site I returned to!

This is a great one of Tiana as the victim of major static.

BABY IN A BOX!

In case anyone is wondering, Max isn't just frowing all the time. She had taken to sucking on her bottom lip which kind of leaves her with a pseudo frown all the time :/

About time Cloverfield and 9/11 (at the end)

I told Brenda i'd post something on Cloverfield so here it goes.

I really liked it!

I appreciate a movie that doesn't give you all the answers. I love a movie that leaves more to your imagination than to special effects (but has just enough to give you a good push). I admire a marketing campaign that gives less in your face and more 'figure it out'.

As I told my dad, it's not the best movie I've ever seen (but I'd put it up there) but it damn well deserved my $8 for making my mind work and getting me excited enough to seek clues. Rare is the movie that I'm just excited about after seeing than before and this was one.

I'm sure there is something they could have improved but I don't know what it would be. Even the painfully slow first 20 minutes is neccessary because it lets you get to know the people.

Poo to all the people who don't like it. They lack imagination and creativity and are just crying becuase they weren't spoon fed the answers. If they didn't because of the motion sickness thing then that's ok. Some people just can't stomach that kind of filming. I thought Blair Witch was a billion times worse though, and that didn't bother me *too* much.

Do I still do searches daily (or at least once in awhile) about the movie? Hell yeah. I believe they will be leeking out more clues as to what, where, how and why.

I have new found appreciation for JJ Abrams. I really have. Almost to the point that I want to go check out "Lost" just because it's his too. And Star Trek? Hell yeah!! I wouldn't be half as excited if it weren't attached to his name! Through the years i've watched an episode of Alias even, enough to know that I'd probably enjoy that one too :).

So those are my thoughts. It's definitely a younger, post 9/11 kind of movie.

Which brings me to my commentary on that. I was rather disturbed by the likeness to 9/11 and the accounts from Josh I heard and home movies/documentaries from that day. I can understand why anyone who WAS there, might not like the movie too. Those of us who weren't there struggle to understand, to be able to empathize even just a fraction, with all those people who were right in the middle of the chaos. I think this movie helps us come to terms with that guilt, that fear and feeds the hope that people do survive. Although our tragedy is only a tenth in comparision to Hiroshima I see the same path using entertainment to help heal a nation so torn. Godzilla was Japan's answer to understanding and dealing with a newly appocolyptic culture. Cloverfield, to a much lesser extent, is ours, or is for some. We've learned some lessons, hopefully we're applying the new knowledge and we made a monster movie about it. I could go on and on about the symbolism but I think I'd just be reading into it too much.

So Kudos from me - Poo to those who need the whole story - Nod to those who needed dramamine and "Thank you" for those endured and shared their story from 9/11.
